Freecycle

Have you heard of www.freecycle.org?

The main reason for Freecycle is to keep items out of the landfills. So if you go in with an attitude of what can I out I get free it won't work for you.

Sometimes there are little things posted like boxes, magazines, left over paint or an artist that wants Altoid cans. Other times it maybe a dresser, freezer or other furniture. It is a rush to get that something free but remember you should post items as well.

There are several close to me but I only participate in Memphis and Desoto Co.

I have given several items to Freecycle. I like it better than donating to Goodwill as you can see the joy for the person it goes to. I have given a microwave, books, dresser, computer desk, clothes and lots of other things.
I have received a dresser, clothes, cement blocks, and shelving. All items I needed at that time. Some people including me keep a list of people who request items but never show. And if I am posting something and I notice the person has never offered an item I will choose someone else.

There are several sites like Freecycle. I just prefer it since they have a larger membership.

Hi, I 'm Barbara. I started calling myself a Frugal Nerd years ago.That's frugal not cheap. :)
I find what keeps me motivated about saving money is sharing. That's where you come in. If you enjoy viewing my posts please like or comment.

I love it here on our 2 acres in the country living with my husband, our 3 dogs, 3 cats & 1 fish.

After I lost my job in 2012 along with a couple of other life changes we had to make some adjustments. Even thou I consider myself frugal I had gotten used to my nice salary & spending it. My husband & I have different opinions on wants vs needs. We both have come around more this past year.

I am constantly intrigued with going green, homesteading, & living off the grid. They all go hand in hand to a degree plus they are great money savers. I find myself researching them with an obsession at times.
I love re-purposing items even thou I am not that creative or handy. If it's not car related I can hang up hubs helping me out.

My main dream is live with one income. It's a far off dream but still a dream.
